ICSWELFARE

Illuminating lives, one month at a time - Consistency breeds true impact

At the start of this new financial year, the ICS Welfare Foundation launched a meaningful new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative: The Monthly Amavasya Grocery Donation Drive. Believing that corporate growth must walk hand-in-hand with community welfare, the foundation has committed to donating foundational food staples—specifically rice and dal—to organizations, shelters, and communities in need throughout the year.

In Indian culture, Amavasya (the new moon night) holds deep spiritual significance as a day traditionally dedicated to reflection, gratitude, and charity (Daan). While the night sky may be at its darkest, the foundation saw an opportunity to bring warmth and hope to the vulnerable. By anchoring this recurring donation drive to this specific day, a traditional custom is transformed into a structured, reliable monthly lifeline for local welfare organizations.

The choice of rice and dal was deliberate, as these staples form the nutritional backbone of most Indian households. Providing these reliable, long-lasting essentials ensures immediate food security and sustained relief for beneficiary organizations. Furthermore, by taking care of basic grocery needs, the foundation enables hard-working NGOs to optimize their tight budgets and redirect funds toward other critical areas like healthcare, education, and infrastructure

What makes this initiative truly special is its consistency; true social responsibility is built on a sustainable model of recurring support rather than a single annual event. The successful rollout of the first few drives has already brought immense gratitude and visible relief to caretakers and residents alike. Moving forward, the ICS Welfare Foundation remains dedicated to continuing this cycle of giving with every new moon, keeping communities nourished and supported.
